About Ann
Bondi artist Ann Cahill’s passion for art began at school in regional New South Wales and during an apprenticeship in sign writing and design. In late 2007, encouraged by family and friends, Ann gave up a career in travel to devote time to painting, something she has always wanted to do.
Ann works in oils and acrylics; and likes a fair degree of realism in her paintings. Although her subject matter varies – seascapes, streetscapes, figures studies and portraits – it is dramatic light on the subject that inspires her work the most. Ann uses aspects of light to give her paintings a sense of time, mood and atmosphere. She looks for inspiration that evokes emotion. Ann’s hope is to plant a thought in the viewer’s mind, so that what emerges is from the viewer’s own imagination.
Ann is committed to furthering her knowledge of technique and mediums. She regularly attends the Mitchell School of Arts Summer/Winter school, as well as other workshops and classes. Ann is a member of both Randwick and St. George Art Society.
Since 2007 Ann has participated in many art shows and competitions and has received several awards.
